Katie is a black Goldendoodle we rescued from a shelter in Missouri.  She was bred in a puppy mill before being sent out with a broker, and was rejected by pet shops because of her color.  She and her sister were eventually returned to the mill where they were born.  Fortunately, a local rescue organization was able to acquire them. 

My dad lost his beloved Doc in January of 2010.  We found Katie shortly after, and she is a daily reminder of all the dogs in shelters across the country who are awaiting homes.  She has been an incredible addition to our family.  I will never forget the day we were able to secure her adoption, or the early winter morning Jon and I drove to Missouri to pick her up.

Placing her in my dad's arms was every bit as rewarding as the day I gave him Doc so many years before.
